Location: Taba
Date: July 3, 2025

Overview

As part of the ongoing One Thimphu River Cleaning Initiative, a stream cleaning activity was successfully carried out on the 3rd and 4th of July 2025 by a dedicated team of 22 De-suups. The team cleaned the entire stretch of the Taba stream, from its upper reaches down to the confluence with the Wangchhu River.

The cleaning effort involved the thorough removal of various forms of waste and blockages. Approximately 25 bags of trash were collected, and significant effort was made to clear obstructions such as branches, uprooted stumps, and other debris that hindered the natural flow of the stream.

This activity marks a continued commitment by the One Thimphu River Cleaning team to maintain and restore the health of Thimphu’s water bodies. The same team will continue stream and drain cleaning efforts across the Thimphu Thromde area until the end of September 2025. Thereafter, the responsibility for maintaining clean streams and drains will be formally handed over to Thimphu Thromde for ongoing management and upkeep.
